“英语词汇学习丛书”由美国著名的教材教辅 Townsend Press出版，是美国大学生使用最为广泛的扩大词汇的教学辅导图书之一。在美国，一个学生的前途在某种程度上取决于他的词汇量的大小。对于我国广大英语学习者来说，词汇学习当然是英语学习的一个重要方面。
本丛书共有6册。每册介绍240-300个在TOEFL、GRE、SAT等测试中经常出现的单词。本丛书的特点是引导学生根据上下文的语境，包括例证、同义、异义、类比等关系来理解单词，通过反复练习、多次使用来熟悉和记忆单词，从而摒弃死记硬背的学习方法。书中对每个关键单词提供的各类练习能让学生反复使用该单词达10次左右。此外，书中部分练习题的题型与TOEFL、GRE、SAT等美国常用入学考试的形式相似，对于我国有志于出国留学的学生熟悉题型也有一定的帮助。
《英语词汇飞跃》为本丛书的第六册，书中提供的英语词汇练习适用于我国高校英语专业高年级（TEM8）学生的水平，也可以作GRE培训高级阶段的辅助教材。
